Segments group your audience by how they watch, what they watch, and when they watch. Use them to understand viewer behavior and target campaigns more effectively.
Segment Types
Temporal Segments
Based on when viewers are active:
- Morning viewers — Peak activity before noon
- Prime time viewers — Evening hours with highest engagement
- Late night viewers — Active after midnight
- Weekend warriors — Concentrated weekend viewing
Content Segments
Based on what viewers prefer:
- Genre enthusiasts — Strong preference for specific content categories
- Series loyalists — Repeatedly watch the same series or channels
- Variety seekers — Watch across many genres and content types
Behavioral Segments
Based on how viewers engage:
- Binge watchers — Long consecutive viewing sessions
- Casual viewers — Short, infrequent sessions
- Skimmers — Low completion rates, sampling many videos
- Deep engagers — High completion rates with likes and comments
Segment Builder
The segment builder lets you create custom segments by combining filters:
- Go to Audiences > Segments.
- Click Build Segment.
- Add filter criteria (viewing time, content type, engagement level, geography, device).
- Preview the segment size.
- Save and name your segment.
Segments update automatically as new data flows in. A viewer can belong to multiple segments.
